Artificial Intelligence Policy

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools are not permitted as authors, since they cannot take responsibility for the work submitted. Their use is not penalised, however, provided that it is declared in a fully transparent manner.

As entities without individual legal responsibility, AI tools cannot declare the existence or absence of conflicts of interest, manage copyright or licensing agreements, or take responsibility for the manuscript.

Authors who use AI tools in the partial drafting of the manuscript, in the generation of images or graphic elements, or in the collection and analysis of data, must declare such use in the corresponding section of the content, clearly specifying which tool was used and how, for example in the materials and methods or methodology sections, or another relevant section of the manuscript.

In all cases, authors are fully responsible for the content of the manuscript, including those parts generated by means of AI tools, and therefore also for any breach of publication ethics arising from such use.
