Author Guidelines

All work submitted for publication must comply with the following rules:

1. Subject matter: all work submitted for publication in the Revista de Estudios y Experiencias en Educación (REXE) must be original and previously unpublished, and must fall within subject areas proper to the field of Educational Sciences.

2. Title: all work must have a title that summarises the central idea of the article, and it must be presented in both Spanish and English.

3. Abstract: all work submitted to the Revista de Estudios y Experiencias en Educación (REXE) must include a short abstract by the author or authors in both Spanish and English, not exceeding 250 words. The abstract must follow the IMRaD format (introduction, method, results and discussion). Five or six keywords or internationally accepted terms in the field of education must be included, taken from the European Education Thesaurus (https://www.vocabularyserver.com/tee/es/), or from the UNESCO Thesaurus (http://vocabularies.unesco.org/browser/thesaurus/en/?clang=es), in Spanish and in English.

4. Format: articles for the Research section must follow APA rules, that is: statement of the problem, research objective(s), methodological design, results, discussion, conclusion and references. Articles for the Studies and Debates section must include: introduction, background, development, proposals, conclusions and references. Finally, work for the Pedagogical Experiences section must contain the following parts: introduction, theoretical background, description of the experience and its results, discussion and references. All work must be uploaded to the OJS platform (https://revistas.ucsc.cl/index.php/rexe), in Times New Roman, size 12, single spacing, in Word format (2003 onwards).

5. Length of submissions: Submissions may range between 7,000 and 8,000 words (including the abstract in both languages, keywords and references).

6. Identification details:Authors must also submit a short CV setting out their academic and professional profile as well as their main lines of research. This is to be included as an additional file when making the submission. It is essential to state the authors' affiliation in the submission metadata, together with their e-mail address and ORCID.

7. Citations and bibliographic references: Specifically, the system of the American Psychological Association (7th Edition) must be followed. Some of the most commonly used examples of references are:

8. Tables, graphs, charts and figures: these must be submitted in editable format with Arabic numbering, at a size allowing maximum clarity when read, with titles and headings standardised in terms of the formats and styles used in the text. Figures must be attached in a PowerPoint file or in the Word file of the original article and must be between 300 and 600 pixels/dpi, in jpg or gif format.

9. Publication of submissions: The Editorial Committee will have 30 days to carry out an initial review of the work (correct academic writing, interest of the subject addressed and compliance with the author guidelines). If the basic conditions are met, the double-blind review process will begin. Should the work be accepted, the authors will be notified and asked to complete and sign the declaration of originality and conflict of interest. Authors retain their intellectual property rights over the work, without prejudice to the academic use that the journal and/or the publishing body may make of the information it contains, in accordance with the licence authorised for that purpose.

10. Declaration of originality and conflict of interest: all authors who upload their work to the platform of the Revista de Estudios y Experiencias en Educación (REXE) declare that: 1) it is an original article on educational research topics, complying with the rules for the publication of articles set out in each issue; 2) it is a previously unpublished article that has not been submitted for review and is not published, in part or in full, in any other scientific journal, whether national or foreign; 3) there are no commitments or financial obligations with public or private bodies capable of affecting the content, results or conclusions of this publication.

11. Research funding: If the work has been carried out with financial support (grants, projects), this must be stated at the end of the text, giving the name and number of the project and the body that provided the resources.

12. Publications and authors: Only articles with a maximum of five (5) authors will be accepted, and articles by the same author will not be published in the same volume.

13. Accepted submissions: The authors of work accepted for publication will receive the copy-edited version of the work and, subsequently, its layout, for the purpose of correcting typographical or grammatical errors; changes affecting the content of the article will not be accepted. Once the work has been published, no changes will be made.

14. Additional documents: When submitting a contribution, all authors must upload the declaration of originality, the authors' CVs, the key data and the final statements for the article submitted.

* If the article submitted exceeds the word count or the number of authors, this may be justified by means of a letter to the Editor, who will decide whether to accept or reject the article for continuation through the journal's editorial processes.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format.
  • Authors' CV.
  • Key data.
  • Declaration of originality.
  • Final statements.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements summarised in the Author Guidelines, which are found in About the Journal.

Copyright Notice

On submitting the manuscript, and whether or not it is accepted for publication, authors agree to retain ownership of the copyright in the work, which means that they retain their economic rights. Likewise, should it be accepted, they authorise the Revista de Estudios y Experiencias en Educación (REXE) to carry out the first publication of the work and to assign it a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0), which allows third parties to share, adapt and redistribute the content, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors and to the journal.

Privacy Statement

The Revista de Estudios y Experiencias en Educación (REXE) is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal data of its authors, reviewers, readers and any other contributor who interacts with the journal. Any personal information collected through forms, e-mails or other official channels will be used solely for purposes connected with the management and publication of manuscripts, communication with those involved in the editorial process, the dissemination of scientific content and the strengthening of the academic community associated with the journal.

The Revista de Estudios y Experiencias en Educación (REXE) undertakes that data will be kept confidential and processed in accordance with the personal data protection legislation in force in Chile, the country from which the journal is published.

Access to this information will be restricted to editorial staff and other participants directly involved in the review and publication process, always subject to a duty of confidentiality.

The Revista de Estudios y Experiencias en Educación (REXE) collects statistical information on visits to and use of the platform, exclusively for analytical purposes and in order to improve the service offered to the academic community. These data are gathered anonymously and do not involve information capable of personally identifying users. Any sensitive data required for editorial management will be handled with appropriate technical and administrative safeguards, so as to prevent unauthorised access to, alteration of or unlawful disclosure of the information.

The Revista de Estudios y Experiencias en Educación (REXE) will not use the data for commercial purposes unrelated to its editorial activity, nor will it transfer them to third parties without the express consent of the person concerned, except where required by law or ordered by a competent authority. Should the journal update or amend these guidelines on the use of information, it will communicate the changes in good time, always keeping the protection of privacy as a fundamental principle of its practice.
