Inclusive Language Policy

The Revista de Estudios y Experiencias en Educación (REXE) promotes the use of inclusive language in the manuscripts submitted for assessment, in keeping with the principles of respect, equality and recognition of diversity found in the social sciences.

Authors are accordingly asked to use language free of bias, avoiding stereotypes, discriminatory expressions or formulations that reproduce gender inequalities or other forms of exclusion. Inclusive language must be used while safeguarding the grammatical correctness, clarity of exposition and economy of language proper to scientific communication.

Particular attention is also recommended in describing and analysing the characteristics of the persons taking part in research, ensuring that the information presented is relevant to the objectives, hypotheses and results of the study. The inclusion of irrelevant background information, or the use of categories that reinforce stereotypes or inappropriate labels, must be avoided.

Where the results of the study identify relevant differences associated with gender or other sociodemographic variables, it is recommended that these be reported and analysed explicitly, thereby contributing to a more rigorous and contextualised understanding of the social phenomena studied.
